a knock on your door
a burst inside your crunched jaw

pricking on cooling woods
never let grape wine spoil your faith of temples

trust yourself, babes,
ascending downward and touch the flesh of earth

easy breath, delightful rests,
nightingales will refresh your spirits

Meet Dr. Funk Welcome to the website of Wendell L. Funk, M.D.

Dr Funk  Bluebell Books Twitter Club!

With offices in Lancaster, York, and Camp Hill Pennsylvania, Dr. Funk has served central Pennsylvania as a plastic surgeon for over 20 years.  We are happy that you have chosen to visit us and hope that we can be of service to you. Dr. Funk captures the artistry of cosmetic surgery, a unique gift that distinguishes him from the average plastic surgeon.
Dr. Funk grew up in a large farming family in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and attended Franklin and Marshall College, where he received a B.A. in Biology. Upon completion of his studies at the Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Dr. Wendell Funk received an M.D. degree in 1976. Subsequently, he completed his internship at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh in 1977 and his residency in Urology at the University Health Center of Pittsburgh in 1981. After practicing urology for four years in Hanover and Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Dr. Funk elected to pursue a new career as a plastic surgeon. In 1985, he entered a residency program at the Ohio State University School of Medicine and completed his residency in Plastic Surgery in 1987.
After residency, Dr. Funk elected to pursue additional studies and entered a prestigious fellowship in Reconstructive Genitourinary and Plastic Surgery at the Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in Norfolk, Virginia.
After receiving his training in these distinguished and prestigious centers of education, he was selected to become a member of an elite group of cosmetic plastic surgeons who completed a fellowship in cosmetic surgery in New York City at the world famous Manhattan Eye Ear & Throat Hospital in 1988, under the surgical training of some of the most famous cosmetic plastic surgeons in the world. Only a small percentage of cosmetic surgeons actually complete an additional six to 12 month fellowship in cosmetic surgery in such prestigious medical environments. A fellowship is extensive educational and hands-on surgical training electively taken after a mandatory residency.
Dr. Funk elected to bring these skills and talents back to his home in central Pennsylvania, where his extended family has lived for many generations, and where he has practiced since 1989. He was certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 1991. His practices in Lancaster, York, and Camp Hill are state-of-the-art; he is a plastic surgeon that practices exclusively cosmetic, or aesthetic, surgery of the face, breast, and body. In addition, Dr. Funk uses his cosmetic talents for facial skin cancer reconstruction in selected patients.
Wendell Funk, M.D., is an exceptional plastic surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. His patient base spans more than 20 states. Artistic abilities are gifts. Dr. Funk’s gifts were recognized in his early years as a musician. His training in classical piano began at the age of five and continued into college, when he decided that medicine was his career passion.
Dr. Funk is a member of the following highly esteemed professional associations:
  • Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS)
  • Former Member, Board of Directors, American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS)
  • American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS)
  • Fellow, American College of Surgeons (FACS)
  • Robert H. Ivy Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons
  • International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS)

He also serves on the board of the Lancaster Fulton Opera House, the Lancaster County Historical Society, and the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra in addition to other civic, charitable, and religious organizations.
