Those Trees In Particular!

Sunday night,
Fearful Flight.
.
Cell phone rings,
Silent screams.
.
An olive in the sandwich stops the pain,
After drought acorns fall in the autumn rain.
.
Lily and lotus, weak by nature,
Widow and maple, weak by heart.
.
under the shade of birch tree,
Chestnuts pound their fists all day.
.
Cloak the fir's amber wound with tar brushes,
Veil the beech's fury under splintered crushes.
.
If the trees are mindless,
you are a stranger,
If you know the trees well with fondness,
you must be home.

tress that know you and tress that are mindless very interesting. the pictures bring your words into focus. i like the one with the colorful flowers.

haiku and senryu about annoyances

verification makes it really hard to comment. you'd get more comments if you turned it off. i had to do this several times to get it to work.

Lovely. This stanza in particular jumped out at me:

.
If the trees are mindless,
you are a stranger,
If you know the trees well with fondness,
you must be home.

I agree with Zongrik. It's so difficult to comment because you have verification.

The idea here is such a good one-- not to just think of a tree as any old tree, but the particular tree that it is. I guess, that flight on Sunday night will be hard if we do not honor the trees enough to have a forest to run into, where we might get away from the cell phones and craziness and nurture ourselves enough to take away the need for the silent screams. Thank you for posting this thoughtful piece.
